About Me And The A.T.

My name is Curt Bizovi and I have decided to FINALLY take the steps necessary to fulfilling my ongoing dream of thru hiking the Appalachian Trail, all the way from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mt. Katahdin in Maine.

Why not, right?

Who am I and what is this all about?

Let’s not go back too far, so… I was born and raised in the Detroit, Mi area and lived until I was 21 in a small village called Holly, Michigan (yes, it wasn’t big enough to even be considered a TOWN, much less a city).

I spent my formative years dreaming of getting as far away from home as possible, so college took me to Adrian, Mi and then to Brooklyn College in NYC. Shortly thereafter I joined the Army and was stationed in Washington D.C. in The Old Guard.

Once out of the Army I moved to Vegas for 4 years and then back to the east coast to live in Wilmington, Delaware. In 2014 I moved back to the D.C. area to live in Reston, Virginia where I currently reside.

My dream of thru hiking the AT started in earnest in 2007 when I came across some trail journals of current hikers. I’ve been fascinated ever since.

I’m not a thru hiker yet, that must be stated emphatically! I am a man who longs to get out on the Appalachian Trail to give the thru hiking experience an honest go, and we’ll see how far that takes me.

I started this blog because I want to hold myself accountable and by sharing things with others I find that my motivations tend to stay intact, because I have something to prove to myself in most endeavors.

I hope anybody who visits my blog posts will find them helpful in some way and everybody is welcome to participate in the process; YOUR input is welcomed and valued!

Thanks, let’s get this journey started, shall we…
